About me

I began studying piano at an early age. I was fortunate to be raised in a musical environment, and most family occasions were marked by singing around a piano.

During my school years, I trained classically under Rita Anthony, attaining a performance diploma in classical piano at the age of 17. I also participated in local music centres, choirs and student bands during this time.

On leaving school, I attended Oriel College Oxford to study Mathematics, graduating with a First Class Masters after 4 years. I also used this time to expand my musical repertoire - I was a founding member of university choir Oxford Singers, and I took a faculty position at the Oxford Brookes Music Department where I was lucky enough to work in an accompanying capacity alongside many talented young musicians.

Throughout my late teenage years and twenties, I was involved with numerous outfits in various different capacities, ranging from accompanist to musical director, arranger and producer.

Notable among these were Heretical Productions, which I musically directed and produced for a period, including for our final trip to Edinburgh Fringe in 2015 with the sellout show 'The Heist'.

During this time I continued to build on my jazz career. In 2016 I began playing with Down For The Count as one of their regular pianists, a capacity which has taken me to all corners of the country and introduced me to many of the fantastic musicians with whom I am still grateful to be working to this day.

Since moving to Bristol in 2013, I have worked professionally as a software engineer, while also maintaining a busy playing calendar.

In addition to my professional engagements, I am social secretary for local choir Sing Clifton, and also participate regularly in local conservation projects.
